I am running leopard 10.5.8 on a gigabyte GA-p45-ud3r mb with an intel quad core cpu. I have a Maxtor external hard drive connected to my system via firewire, but can't access the drive. I cannot see the drive under disk utility. If I connect it with a USB cable, the drive mounts just fine and I can access it. I can see and access the firewire drive in Windows 7.

I can see my firewire port in system profiler, and get the following information about my external hard drive there:

OneTouch:

Manufacturer: Maxtor

Model: 0x700070

GUID: 0x10B902114703B9

Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec

Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec

Sub-units:

OneTouch Unit:

Unit Software Version: 0x10483

Unit Spec ID: 0x609E

Firmware Revision: 0x121

Sub-units:

OneTouch SBP-LUN:

How can I get the drive to mount so that I can access it?
