Bigc9731
I have an amd athlon ll X2 M300 cpu and a conexant audio card. I have the azalia kext for my audio and the audio is choppy when i play it. If i add the <string>idlehalt=0<string> to my com.apple.boot.plist file, my audio plays fine but after about an hour or so, my computer will randomly shut off. if i remove this line, the computer is fine but the audio is very choppy. anyone have any ideas why this line causes my system to shut down? Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bigc9731
Edit 1: When playing a movie with vlc player, the audio works fine without idlehalt=0 in the boot command and the computer stays on and doesnt turn off. Also, if i open photo booth or play a game of chess computer vs. computer, the audio will play fine in itunes. Edit 2: I still have no idea how to fix this. I have figured something out though. My fan is in the back of the laptop and when booted up with idlehalt=0 and i cover the fan with something like my hand, in a few minutes, the laptop will shut off in snow leopard. Without this idlehalt=0 command, nothing happens when i cover the fan. Also, the temperature is around 51 celcius in temperature monitor when it shuts off but it can go way above that without the boot kernel and it is fine. So im not sure if there is a problem with a temperature sensor with this kernel in place but i would like to get this issue resolved if anybody has an idea. The choppy audio is very annoying.
