Hi,

Simple question here,

I have installed Leopard on my Acer Aspire 7738G,

I have enabled Quartz via OSX86Tools, and I can use my full 1600x900 resolution.

But I have been trying and trying to install Snow Leopard to this machine,

but I never got the fancy QE/CI stuff enabled.

I do got full 1600x900 though...

On the myHack website, I see:

General Hardware Requirements:

-Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core i5, Core i7

-Motherboard: Intel chipset with ICHx southbridge & ALC889a audio (GA-EP45-UD3R, GA-EX58-UD5, GA-X58A-UD3R, etc).

-At least 2GB of memory (4GB or more recommended).

-USB Keyboard and Mouse. (Apple keyboard recommended)

-Nvidia 8xxx, 9xxx or 2xx series graphics card.

-At least 40GB of internal hard disk space.

So, this is it, no Snow Leopard for me?

Do I have to give up now and be happy with Leopard,

no QuickTime X, Safari 4 and other old software?

cheers.

EDIT:

Thanks to JBraddock for the help,

and JeremyLeroy96, for bumping the old thread,

this thread is now solved! ;)

(Now I just need to find out how to actually mark it as solved... '^^)

I'd hate to bump an old thread, but have you got it working? I have the same situation.

1gb nVidia GeForce GT 130m. I was able to get my maximum resolution using natit. But the colors seemed off, animations seemed choppy, and it was only using 128mb of my 1024mb.

Sadly enough, I believe our videocards are simply not supported by Snow Leopard.

Look here. Alternatively, you could use Chameleon RC5's Graphics Enabler feature.

So, putting that chunk of code in post #381 in my DSDT should fix the issues me and JeremyLeroy96 are experiencing?

Do we need additional kexts (NVEnabler, Natit, ...)?

EDIT:

I believe I need to add the fix in the graphics section of my DSDT?

My DSDT currently contains AGP, IGP, PEGP and GFX0, where do I add the fix?

Sorry, I couldn't reply to you earlier. Without using any injector and DSDT fix, open your com.apple.Boot.plist in Extra folder and add the following line and see happens:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>

If your laptop has two GPU cards, that's a different story and I don't know how to fix it. Use Chameleon RC5.

No problem, I understand :thumbsup_anim:

But now I still don't know what I need to do with that bit of code?

Do I need to add or replace it in my DSDT?

And where do I need to do that?

No problem, I understand :P

Forget DSDT for now.

In your Extra folder, there is a file named com.apple.Boot.plist, open it and add the code above to it. See what happens.

OMG! THAT WORKED!

Now I only need to figure a way to make

my GRUB2 bootloader chainload into Chameleon.

I thank you soo much!! (:
