i have no idea what this means. during my first initial boot i have been waiting forever to load osx. i noticed i got a few link/load errors pertaining to applemlan.kext and appleaudio.kext (dont remember if they word for word right) and it has just been giving me this system starter error over and over. i am stumped.

If I'm not mistaken, the "first update thingy for amd and intel systems" is the name of the category for all of the items below it. It is the one with the arrow beside it. Clicking it may have selected everything below it and thus you got packages you don't want.

I would double check that and you would need to reinstall if I'm correct.

I meant i clicked on the 10.4.6 update for both intel and amd systems. i also spent all night trying different combos, like no semjaza or no 10.4.6 update. and at some point i will always get stuck with the system starter (45): waiting for update settings, were its just keeps repeating line after line. why didn't i have this problem when i installed 10.4.3 on my celeron laptop???
