Thanks to all the info and support in these forums I successfully installed the 10.5.6 Leopard DVD in Workstation 7. I'm running on a ASUS G50V-A1. Other than sound, which I haven't really looked into fixing, all is fine.

 

I'm now running software update to upgrade to 10.5.8 and will eventually try to upgrade to Snow Leopard using a Retail DVD.

 

So far so good.
