Hi

just completed retail install of SL on Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G / Coreduo / 4Gb Ram / MSI 6600GT 128Mb.

Everything is fine except video: I can only be at 1280x1024 with no QE. When I try to put Graphics Enabled to Yes, it hangs up with blue screen. Putting to "No" allow me to start and run SL fine.

However, my id card is in the list of NVDANV40Hal.kext supported code of SL. Tried to create an EFI string with EFI Studio, then try to use NV Enabler (after removing the EFI String) but with always the same result: a blue screen.

I know this is old HW for SL but I read some posts people were able to run this GPU so that's why I want to solve this as it should work.

I have 2 questions:

1/ I do not know exactly where to search (what log file for ex) or what approach I should follow to understand what happen in order to solve this ? any suggestion or advise are welcome.

2/ Some one on the forum gave me a set of files (boot CD, kexts and DSDT file for this MB as he was using it succesfully).

I read somewhere that you can put some info on your graphic card in DSDT file: if this is the case - I asked him and I am still waiting for the answer - and for example he was using a different GPU model, is there any chance this could take precedence over any change I could try (like EFI string or NV Enable) and thus that this is normal to always get the same result? How can I check this if you think it could be linked ?

thanks

EDIT: It Works. I have installed Chameleon V2 RC5 and added a DSDT file for my motherboard. I now have full res and QE. see thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1588474 post #13

No idea?

I am not necesserely looking for the solution: getting advice on how to solve would be also very useful.

Thanks

If your card is PCI-E (not AGP):

try with GraphicsEnabler=Yes + a DVI-VGA adapter from DVI output to VGA monitor input.

Hi

Yes, it's PCI-E.

Today, I am currently connectedin VGA (my LCD display does not have any DVI input) so I will have to stay with VGA.

Any other suggestion?

the DVI is the OUTPUT of the Graphic card that with a DVI-VGA adapter go to the VGA INPUT of the monitor!

Ok, I do not have such adapter. So I try by connecting directly via DVI an other LCD who has an DVI input. The result is the same, the PC freeze with a blue screen.

I have find following logs in /var/log/windowserver.log booting from my Hardisk with EnableGraphics equal Yes:

It looks like Chameleon recognise my card and the LCD, but I have "the agc_attach: Couldn't find any matches" error, and it seems I have very often this error n my various test: what does it mean and how can I fix this ?

Thanks
