scabadaska
OK, I am toasted. I have searched for 3 days straight, tried every kext edit, every way possible, and still nothing. I CAN NOT get OS X to reconize my onboard sound. Here is my breakdown: My mobo is an ABIT IL8 with a Intel 945P and Intel ICH7 Express chipset. Here is the link to the specs: http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techsp...1&model=308 The auido (as windows reconizes it) is Realtek with VEN ID = 10EC and DEV ID = 0880. It is 7.1 HD sound. Please, if anyone has any information leading me in the right direction, that would be great. Also, I am on a P4 prescot and JaS os x 10.4.6 with the latest 10.4.7 updates. Thank you. Rammjet
The auido (as windows reconizes it) is Realtek with VEN ID = 10EC and DEV ID = 0880. It is 7.1 HD sound. You have ALC880 sound. scabadaska
OK some updates. THIS IS CRITICAL FOR ANYONE WITH ALC880. First of all I want to thank rammjet for his link. I wasn't able to get sound from that BUT it is insightful. My problem was in my os x version. I needed the 10.4.3 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext. I NOW HAVE FULL AUDIO (out only, fine for now) This is how I proceeded. First, check out this link HERE (this is where I downloaded the right kext file and followed the directions) FIRST: ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS. I backed up my entire extensions folder just for good measure. Then I removed AppleHDA.kext from the extensions folder. Next: Download the 10.4.3 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from the link provided. Next: Remove the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from the extensions folder and replace with the downloaded 10.4.3 version. **Keep in mind, you can do this all through Terminal, I just did everything up til this next step manually in the folders. Next: open Terminal Type: sudo -s chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions/ Then reboot. I have full sound now. The only thing I now have to figure out is last night (I reinstalled this morning) I had done these steps with success but I already had MacVidia installed and I was getting much conflict. Now, I did this fresh of the bat with no macvidia drivers YET. My screen resolution right now is wrong, but that is the next step. HopefullyI wont get any conflict. I will repost with results. Thank you to everyone who helped. Feel free to repost this method I am 99% that it is a perfect fix for ALC880 sound. ***QUICK ADD Installed macvidia drivers. NO CONFLICT this time!!! I for the first time have full sound and full 1920x1200 resolution on my dell 24" lcd using DVI. Even the 10.4.7 upgrade went smoothly. Thank you to all who helped. If anyone is experiencing similar problems, let me know. Cheers!
