Jbbrack03
Ok, first of all I'm only installing Chameleon to get Teamviewer working. I was told that I have to edit my serial in my smbios.plist file. I did a search for it, and I don't see it anywhere on my computer. I read a tutorial that said that if I install Chameleon, it will give me an extra folder that I can put a smbios.plist file into. So I downloaded the latest Chameleon RC4. Here are the instructions that I got: Normal Install (non-RAID): -------------------------- Suppose that your installation is on /dev/disk0s2 - Install boot0 to the MBR: sudo fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 - Install boot1h to the partition's bootsector: sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 - Install boot to the partition's root directory: sudo cp boot / No need to use startupfiletool anymore! I created a partition that I named "OSX SL" and installed 10.6.4 on it. I'm not sure how to apply these commands to my computer. I know how to open terminal, but I'm not sure what changes to make to the command since my disk is labeled differently than what is in the sample commands. So I'm not sure how to install chameleon. So if you can help me either figure out how to install chameleon, or if you know where my smbios file is located, I would greatly appreciate it! Jbbrack03
Dr Hurt's automatic installer: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=64081 That didn't work. It popped up and said "installation failed". Any other ideas? Is the smbios.plist a native OS X file or is it added by something? Jbbrack03
Ok, I think that I might have a clue as to what is wrong. I don't think that I've got an EFI partition. When I open terminal and type "diskutil list" I lists my OS X partition as Apple_HFS OSX SL. The only other partitions are for windows. Do I have to have an EFI partition to use chameleon? Can I create another partition and install chameleon to it (without reinstalling OSX)? Jbbrack03
No. It can be installed to other locations. See here.Yes, you can. Ok, I reformatted my drive to a GUID partition and I was able to install chameleon from the installer that you provided. How do I get to the "Extra" folder to add the smbios.plist file? How do I get to the "Extra" folder to add the smbios.plist file?Use finder. It should be located on the root of the disk. Or simply copy smbios.plist using Terminalcd /(path to smbios.plist file)/SMBIOS.plist sudo cp SMBIOS.plist /Extra cd - Change (current) Directory to specified location. Those you will "brows" to the folder where SMBIOS.plist is located (the one you WANT to copy). Tip - you can do it like this: type in cd (and pres space bar once) then drag the folder with SMBIOS.plist file to terminal - the path will appear in the Terminal, no need to type it. sudo cp - copies the SMBIOS.plist to /Extra folder using root priv. Make sure you type SMBIOS.plist the way it is named in your case. It could be all capital letters (as shown) or small caps. If you have Chameleon installed to EFI partition, read munky's guide.
