Dont think my specifics are too necessary... (plus dont have in front of me right now)

Installed 10.6, after a couple months saw Fatal S.M.A.R.T. Error. (1T HD) Stopped working a few weeks later. Purchased another brand new SATA drive, clean install, but same technique (1.5T HD this time)... its been running great for about a month now on 10.6.4, now throwing Fatal S.M.A.R.T. Error.

I am so afraid its going to die again. This CANNOT be hardware... 2 new hard drives? I back up religiously and even have a cloned system drive...

But I did this to save money and to show that I could. If I have to drop a hundo every couple months for a new drive then saving are gone, could have just bought "their" hardware and called it a day.

Please help me... there has to be something software that is causing this? I have searched the forum, google, etc... cant find anyone else experiencing this.

Optiplex 755

NVid Card 8800 (i think)

8gb Ram

1.5tb hd

2.5ghz dual core intel

The system is SUPER stable and fast except for this repeating issue. HELP!
