I installed SL 10.6.3 on my Asus M51Va following tonymacx86's ##### + ##### method which installed fine, but I could only boot in safe mode. Now on 10.6.3 I installed Chameleon (manually) but updating to 10.6.4 renders the installation unbootable, even in safe mode. The last log message displayed on 10.6.4 is FireWire (OHCI) VendorID 1180 ID 832 built-in now active, GUID.... I've tried playing with different kexts but I think it might have something to do with the modified mach_kernel booting off the #####-ATI cd.

Do I need to hex edit a stock ATIRadeonX2000.kext to support my device id (0x9591)? Or run a non-vanilla kernel? Can I put all my kexts in Chameleon's /Extras/Extensions/ folder or is /System/Library/Extensions the preferred place? I'm not sure what advice that is suggested for 10.5.x or earlier still applies, as some information is years old. Any information or links would be appreciated, as well as suggested kexts or patches to try. I'll keep this thread updated with what works and what doesn't.

Thanks in advance (and as a side note, thank god for time machine backups!)
