cydetu
I just purchased a Dell 17R (N7010) and I have SL 10.6 retail disc. Using ##### (Supported) I'm able to install Snow Leopard successfully, but when I get to try to update to 10.6.4 using the combo update, I get a kernel panic towards the end of its install and it asks me to force shutdown. Upon restart, I am stuck on the loading screen indefinitely. This is the guide I've been following so far. So in other words, I am able to successfully install OSX on the laptop, but when I try to update to 10.6.4 using the combo update, I get a kernal panic error. If I skip this step and continue the guide and install MultiBoot, the computer once again will not boot. Any help? wobblyrainking
Check your BIOS and see if Execute Bit Disable is enabled... Once your sure of that just use the I-boot CD to get back into your install. Did you use Easy Beast mode and nothing else If not try that. I was in BIOS, but didn't find any options for Execute Bit Disable or XD bit; below are the options I'm given in BIOS under the Advanced tab. Intel ® SpeedStep: Enabled Virtualization: Enabled Integrated NIC: Enabled USB Emulation: Enabled External USB Ports: Enabled USB Wake Support: Disabled SATA Operation: AHCI eSATA Operation: Enabled Adapter Warnings: Enabled Function Key Behavior: Function Key First Charger Behavior: Enabled Wireless: Enabled Turbo Mode: Enabled Also, I the Easy Beast Mode by itself and it still didn't work. From what I understood about the guide, I need to install the Combo Patch first, and that's the original problem, maybe if I can get that to install, the rest will work as well.. Any thoughts? John Peter Kurtz
I'm having the some problem here, exactly the same thing... Maybe using the beast without updating? ichoderso
I'm having the some problem here, exactly the same thing...Maybe using the beast without updating? Yes, you can using the installation without update, no problem- but by sure, the automatically software update function is not switched on. I had the same problem, but find the mistake ... DO'NT use the automatically Update. This starts an 'unbreakable' Update Routine and automatically reboot. This 'overwrite' the 'Hackintosh' Boot Option, and you get kernel Panic. Download The Comboupdate.IMG (Apple Direct ). Make The Combo update and DO Not Reboot. Start The beast ... And then .....reboot. So I downloaded and then sent it to my hackintosh via usb drive... In the end of the update, the error occurs and I can't do a thing but reset... And when I reset, it won't load my mac anymore, I tried it 3 times... Any ideas without the update combo? Yep, in the same boat as you.. auto update is no problem, since neither WiFi, nor Ethernet are recognised. I tried to install ##### with, and without combo updates, no luck. I even tried each of the individual updates, but still no luck. Any ideas?
