Hi,

is there a guide or trick to restore a failed installation from time machine ?

I've killed my hackintosh installation by "playing" with DSDT patching.

It's a long way to restoring all the files, itunes library and configuation. But i can't use the time machine because the system said "that is not the system, there the backup files from..."

Thanks

Peter

Google "how to remove dsdt.aml single user"

IMO better to use Carbon copy cloner for backup & if it is on another hard drive (internal or external), install a boot loader to that drive.

ok, thanks for your advice. By the way ... under the "hackintosh construction" - make time machine sense ? It seems to me, i never can use time machine backup files in an hackintosh environment.

Just a personal view : I don't like time machine on hacks or a real mac. I turn it off

Have you been able to delete the dsdt.aml and boot your system?

Hi Dellmantt,

at this point, its to late to try, because i've made a fresh installation. But i will try the DSDT configuration once more - i've problems with the suspend mode and think thats the only way to fix it (kext did'nt work for me). So, its a good advice for the next time i need to recover my system :D

"I came from the other side of the river" - Windows over years, and time machine looks for me as a good solution to backup my system and data without any thoughts. But if i recognize, it does'nt works with hackintosh, because if i need a backup, i can't use it ...??!!

Yes i know, windows has solutions for backing up data too ... but i like the mac solution.

sorry about my bad english ...

With Carbon Copy Cloner you can set a schedule and it will do an incremental backup.

If you mean by suspend mode- sleep and/or hibernation, yes people have a lot of trouble with it on Hackintosh. It something I don't use, just turn it off in system preferences.

BTW your english is very good.

Hi Dellmantt,

like i wrote, i tried to install the system once more ... at the end successful, but the removing of dsdt.aml over bash did'nt work for me. Its a long time ago i'm handling with linux so im failling with login as root. May i should used a ubuntu live cd, login and try it once more. But i installed a clean system and then i used the time machine backup file to restore my user files - and this works.

In spite of this, thanks a lot for your tip ...
