gma x3100 trouble on dell inspiron 530 running 10.6.4

Recently I have managed to get 10.6.4 installed on my stock (with the exception of a pci gigabit lan) dell inspiron 530 using a retail snow leopard disk. Everything worked right out of the box with the exception of audio and limited graphics capabilities. The audio i managed to get resolved using AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 2 and the VoodooHDA.kext.2.7.2-10.6 only issue remaining is the graphics. i have the basic 1024 x 768 resolution working fine, but i cannot change resolutions so that i can enjoy my monitors true 1680 x 1050. i have tried just about everything i've been able to find via google but nothing has seemed to work for me. i wish i could say that i have not searched hard enough, and perhaps i havent, but i have been researching for well over 2 weeks before making this post here. i believe that my machine is using the gma x3100 with the Device ID: 0x29c2 Revision ID: 0x00020x0002. any and all help would be greatly appreciated, since i think i am at my wits end with this one. if anymore info is needed, please don't hesitate to ask. aside from that 1 remaining issue, everything works great so far and i cannot tell you how much i love this project. it certainly breaks up the monotony of being just a linux user.
