Justin D.
OK, so I've been told no by some people I've asked, but I decided to ask here just to be sure. I have 10.6.4 running great on my Inspiron 1525, but I plan to get into iOS dev, and would much rather be working on my desktop. My laptop simply isn't suitable to be a dev machine. My desktop's processor is an AMD Phenom 9750. Is it possible in any way for me to get Snow Leopard (ideally 10.6.4, since the iOS SDK's tend to only be compatible with the newest OSX release) running in VMWare? macuserfan
I think you can , i have installed 10.6.2 but it's not sure . Why ? because i have made this a day , after i have deleted the virtual machine , it was an error and after impossible for me to recreate a new machine with the same settings , it was on an Athlon 64 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/227410-snow-leopard-in-vmware-on-amd/#findComment-1523925 Share on other sites

I have posted a link to Zenith432's excellent SnowKitty topic, with a resent post regarding 10.6.4, and if you look back (Post #10) in the same topic people have got SL running under AMD processors as well as non VT-x Intel processors, both of which are unsupported by OS X running the vanilla kernel. I do not have any experience myself as I am all Intel (Core i7 and Xeon E5520 QC). http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1492533 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/227410-snow-leopard-in-vmware-on-amd/#findComment-1523952 Share on other sites
Justin D.
Not to sound like a noob or anything, but how exactly would I get to a point where I could replace the vanilla kernel with that one. A bit off the subject, but how would I go about converting my SL DMG into something like an ISO that VMWare recognizes? It seems to be rather unwilling to boot from the DMG, and I don't have any dual-layer DVD's lying around. sierradump
I would like some help with this too... We just switched to Xserve at work and I am trying to setup a SL server and SL client in a VM Lab so I can test/play before full implementation and deco of the MS products... But our backoffice workstations are all AMD Phenoms HERE IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR. Works 100% to install and run Mac OS X 10.6 (Client and Server). I'm using Workstation 7. YMMV if using 6.5? 1.) Create a new VM. Choose Custom. Set to "install os later". PICK "BSD 64 BIT" or "OTHER 64 BIT" as base template. Designate 1024 or 2048 mb RAM. I pick IDE HD (because SCSI type causes permission issues once SL is installed?) 2.) Go find the "empire EFI" .iso and use this to BOOT your VM. 3.) When it boots, swap to your retail SL disk or .iso and hit F5. 4.) Choose your DVD image which should show up after hitting F5, and then hit enter. 5.) Proceed to install just like a regular mac. (disk utility, partition, install etc...) While this is working 100% for me. I would like to know if I am supposed to be tuning or configuring the VMWare .conf file? I see in all the intel vmware ws 7 threads that people are injecting lines of code into their VM.Conf files. Like adding the ICH7 = True or SVGA.enable = FALSE etc... Is there like a list of all the VMWare .conf variables that need to be set to truly emulate a Mac hardware platform???
