jaysee54321
Hi everyone, I've been trying to get a second video card running in my Hackintosh for about 6 months now!! I've been talking to mrjanek about it, but he's gone quiet of late and I'm not sure if he's still around. I figured I'd open this up to others in the 10.6 install forum to see if anyone can solve my two small problems, and claim the bounty of $100 USD! I'm currently running a Hackintosh with the following specs: I'm using a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P (two PCIe slots) with the following other hardware, all working perfectly with 10.6.2 and Kakewalk: Core2 Quad 2.66Ghz 4gig RAM Built in Audio / Networking Silicon Memory eSATA PCI Card with 10.6 (64bit driver) 1x 9800GT (DVI + HDMI) I'm currently using my 9800GT, with a 23" cinema display and a 32" Samsung TV. I've also got, waiting in the wings to be installed, 9500GT (DVI + HDMI). My ultimate goal is to have 4 monitors (2 displays + 2 HDMI TVs) running 10.6.4. (it's an edit suite!) The bounty is as follows: Get my second video card working? $75 USD Get HDMI video out working? $25 USD Currently, when I put the second video card into the secondary PCIe slot, it all works fine under windows (i.e. the cards are working fine) but when I boot into OSX I get a kernel panic halfway through boot. I'm not sure if any new info has come to light in the past 24 hours (10.6.4 + Mac Mini HDMI), but as far as I can work out, my problem stems from the DSDT in my install. I've done a lot of reading and tried to get my head around how DSDT works, but I've come up short. I'm an Apple Hardware Tech (certified) so I know what I'm doing, but I just don't understand how the DSDT stuff all ties together. As far as I can surmise, it's most likely a DSDT problem, but I'm unsure exactly what to do with that file. I've uploaded the DSDT.aml to this message in case that helps. :-) When he first emailed me back (haven't heard since) in April, MrJanek asked me for the following info in a PM a few months back, which I sent him but didn't hear back... I did some googling and I think I know how to solve this. What you need do to is to first insert your primary card (9800GT) and download an app called gfxutil (link here). Boot into Snow Leopard and start a Terminal window. Change directory to gfxutil (cd ~/Downloads/gfxutil) and run it (./gfxutil -f display)Copy the output (it will look something like this PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)) to an empty text file. Do the same procedure with your secondary card (9500GT). Remember to put the card into the secondary slot. Make sure the text file looks something like this: 9800GT PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) 9500GT PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x6,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) I did that as requested, and here is the output with my cards in my slots (one at a time obviously - as that's the only way to get each card to boot and not KP)... 9800GT Output (in primary PCIe Slot) DevicePath = PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) 9500GT Output (in secondary PCIe Slot) DevicePath = PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x6,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) If you need any other info, please contact me. I'm super keen to get this happening. I will PayPal the $ bounty to the person who can get it working as soon as it's all done. LatinMcG
specific models are missing.. i.e: videocard models.. not just chip type.. the motherboard is rev 1. ? or 2? if there is.. the cpu model QXXX? the Kp info (boot with -v to see verbose errors) the hdmi.. uses a spdif cable to mainboard? or has audio chipset on it ? is this dsdt modded in any way .. or original included ? i was looking into nvidia dsdt dual stuff a few weeks back and i know it is possible.. but the hdmi.. and 2 dvi on other card can make it more complicated. hdmi runs as TV out.
