retroz
sigh.... I recently updated to 10.4.6 using the tutorial... When I got to this command "ln -s /System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleFileServer /usr/sbin/AppleFileServer" I got command not found, in addition, I tried using a lower case i for IN. Anyway, I am using a firewire device for sound, Final Cut plays, garage band plays, quicktime plays... but there is NO SOUND what so ever for iMOVIE or iDVD, in iMOVIE if I click media and play for example Lucas sounds, I hear nothing. Any ideas on how to fix. The last time something like this happened I had to reinstall the whole OS and there was supposed to be some updates on how to create a image of your install but it never happened. Would appreciate it if someone could please help! I do not want to re-install again. Please, in Gods name, I hope someone can help this time! Thanks! a little depressed, got a call about a great job on Friday, missed the call, called them back (major TV company) and they where gone for the day, called today, they where busy and would call me back,,,,,nothing yet. retroz
ln is lowercase LN (el en) - short for link Oh, well would this fix the sound problem? I had no problems until I updated to 10.4.6. If I hit F8 -x -s then that one command, repair permissions, then run the last terminal command will it work? Thanks! I really need this job by the way, support/thoughts/prayers appreciated! PS. Thanks for moving it, sometimes I am not sure where to post certain things! retroz
Fixed! This should be a sticky..... Even though Software update shows Quicktime is updated, you go to apple.com and download newest apple DMG and install. This fixes quicktime, and all related programs. Courtnii
Hey Retroz and anyone else who can help: I'm having the EXACT same problem. But all of my software is up to date (I'm running 10.4.7), so your fix didn't work for me. My clips play fine in Quicktime & everywhere else as far as audio, but there is no sound in iMovie.... I tried all of the simple fixes listed in the help file & on Apple's support site. There seems to be absolutely nothing I can do to make my clips have any sound. This is my first Mac - I've only had it for about a month - and I'm EXTREMELY worried that I'm already having little problems like this with it. If anyone can help a Mac noob, that would be great... help me feel more Mac love than my frustrated self has been feeling!
