that's about all I know. it's a Dell Demension 2350.

So far, I've successfully gotten through the OSX install but when it's finished and I goto restart, it doesn't restart. It just shows the "working" icon but doesn't do anything. Also, I'm not familiar with the whole spfdisk thing. I put it on a diskette but my computer doesnt recognize it and I get an error mssg when I boot from the floppy.

Since I cannot get OSX installed properally, I'm going with Dilnalomo's guide. I'm using Acronis Disk Director to set partitions and the OS selector, which I think is much easier than using a boot disk.

I also think the ISO OS x86 version I originally downloaded and burned doesn't work right. At the end of installation, when I goto restart, the screen freezes with the circular 'working' icon still spinning. No rebooting.

Also, when I goto the disk ultility options in the setup, I select the 2nd partition I made earlier and erase it, but for some reason it erases the whole HD (including windows).

I'm currently downloading "10.4.6DVDPATCHED_myz" and I hope that works.

Any ideas/help with the erasing the partition?? I'm following the guide, but cant get it to do what I need it to do. Also, has anyone else had the restarting problem? Or am I supposed to wait a long time for it to restart?

Thanx for the help!

Microsoft Bob, you represent all us Noobs! Please let me know how 10.4.6DVDPATCHED_myz works. So far I have tried Jas and HOTiso and got either b0 error/continous reboots, or the gray screen with apple logo and a stop sign. My laptop is on the HCL list but just not having any luck installing it. Please any help is appreciated.

When it asks you "Press any key to install", press F8.

In the command type "-v" without the quotes. See what it is doing. I had this problem a few times. Also, I got OSX up and running native!! The machine is a Compaq Evo W4000 with 1.25GB Mem and a P4 1.7 processor. Nvidia Quatro 128MB workstation vcard and a dvd-rom and cd-rw. All parts work flawlessly except for the AC97 audio. Its very choppy and distorted. Pros: Is there a solution to this?

Again, I will make a wiki page on how to do this. I've also got the Chain0 dualboot, so I get the option of WinXP Pro or Mac OSX. Worked until a short time ago. MacOS crashed, had to hard reset it and give it a cold boot. Now it exhibits the restart syndrome above. Pros: Any solution to that? Must I reinstall?

Arnel: Did you use VMware or native (boot off the CD)?

Vmware makes it very easy.

It's getting it to boot native that's the pain.

I've accomplished the -not impossible, but slightly complicated- task!!! Woot!

I know what happened. I installed the Intel Update from Apple Update. I tried it again and watched it. As soon as it got through the download and started to install, it froze like before and wouldn't start up. Now, I didn't install that update and it works fine. Let that be a warning to everyone: DON'T INSTALL THE INTEL UPDATE.
