Hi out there... :-)

i am having som issues on overclocking my hack. I have got a Gigabyte EX58 UD5 and an i7 960 here, and I can't figure out the problem.

Problem: I can't level up my BCLK over 150 or the System will not be bootstable any more.

I already tried to set the QPI-voltage to 1,3V, the RAM-Voltage to 1,6V (as its running at 200Mhz too high). Both things do not change anything, it is not bootstable.

In slightly overclocked mode, I cannot run any programs, the system will just cancel them (at 300 MHZ over standard -> 3,5Ghz instead of 3,2 Ghz).

Any ideas?

I'd say try adjusting Vcore, QPI and Memory voltage is for stability when you're trying to run high DDR3 memory speeds..for instance, my X58A-UD5 is running Corsair XMS DDR3 1600. Having it at 1600 mhz memory speed, it doesn't need but a mere bump in QPI from the default. Vcore will add general stability to an OC. Also, are you using Windows to do stability testing? I find that it's a bit easier to use that OS for stability testing, with some general set program suites that I could recommend when it comes to that point.

Higher initial bumps to Vcore for mild OC's isn't bad, it's just indicative of a chip with potentially less headroom for frequency adjustment and the chip batch. Considering that you're using an i7-960, that'll have some difficulties getting super substantial differences.

Also, try and lower your multiplier number to an odd number, from 24 to 23, and try nudging the BCLK a bit more. Odd numbered multipliers generally yield a better OC result.
