enjoyfebruary
So I have a MDD G4 with Dual 1Ghz Cpus and 2Gb DDR ram running 10.5.8. It basically just sits there and runs Rivet to send video to the xBox 360 in the living room. Often i'll get on it to web surf and download music. On the other hand I have a Hackintosh with a 2.6GHz Pentium 4 and 1Gb of DDR 400 running 10.5.8. Besides some bad graphics which should be resolved with a new video card which is in the mail, it runs pretty well. I'm considering spending money on more ram and buying some extra stuff for this hackintosh but I'm torn on wether to spend money on such an old system or just rebuild it around an e5300 or something. I'm trying to spend as little money as possible. I'll compare specs. MDD G4 2x1GHz PowerPC CPUs 167MHz FSB 2Gb DDR 333 Radeon 9000 64mb (AGP 4x) Noise: Ridiculous Temp: Ridiculous Hot Hackintosh 2.6Ghz Pentium 4 (s478) 800MHz FSB 1Gb DDR 400 GeForce 6600gt 128mb (PCIe x16) Noise: Like a library Temp: Like a spring day Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214511-what-is-faster/ Share on other sites
enjoyfebruary
Duh! Run Geekbench and find out. Even with 512mb of ram Hackintosh takes the cake. Geekbench score of 1477 and PowerMac score of 985. Ouch.
