bobhansen
I have a old G5 Tower that's on the fritz, I was wondering how hard it would be to put a ATX mobo in it. I've built around 5 hackintosh's so that parts no problem, but how much modding to the case do you have to do to make it work? The G5 isn't worth fixing but I do like the case a lot. My daily machine is a Gigabyte EP35-DSL3, Core2Quad, 8 gigs with a nvidia 8500 256 and dual boot 10.5.8 and 10.6.2 "updating to 10.6.3 as I'm posting this." nissefar
I did it by moving the mounting plate and backplate from an old ATX case to the G5 case, cutting out a hole for it in the back. I've seen other solutions where people extend the cables from the back to a motherboard mounted further into the case, so as to preserve the original G5 backside. It all depends on how vanilla you want to keep it and which tools and skills you have available.
