Bender6681
i have osx on partition 1 of and mbr drive. part 2 is ntfs and is almost a TB of music movies pictures. I was running throught the steps at this site http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/04/how-to-...ameleon-20-rc1/ Step 4 says to run "dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2" I was not paying close enough attention and copied that line into terminal. now my storage partition is gone. Disk utilty shos disk0s2 but i cant mount it. it does show as ntfs. windows shows this partition as raw. I beg you all please tell me how to undo this. I know i should have had a backup but i got careless. srs5694
I suggest you Google "NTFS repair." When I did, I found this page about using a utility called testdisk to help with this sort of thing. I also found this page about using a commercial utility called DiskInternals. Chances are you wiped out the NTFS boot sector and probably one sector after that, so whatever method you use will need to recover both of those sectors. Bender6681
Thanks. That did the trick. I read about fixing the boot sector before posting and tried some other programs but they wouldn't fix it. I was about to go and buy another hdd to try a data recovery program. Thanks again.
