vancouvercanucks2010
hi, i have been able to install Leopard (iPC 10.5.6) to my very old PC. The specs is P4P800-vm 1GB Ram 82865G graphic card (not really a card) 120 GB SATA hard drive IDE DVD drive Everything runs very well on the first boot, including internet. However, the internet is down on the second boot for some reason and i couldnt get it back. I can download anything from the internet, and i could get them installed to my computer. However, none of the application that doesnt come with the orginial dvd just couldnt run. The application would bounce on the task bar for a few times and then just disappear without any reason. very odd. As for my sound card, i am not sure why it doesnt work at all, according to HCL i need to have AD1980, but for some reason it just didnt have any sound at all. Is it normal to have some trouble watching youtube? Safari crash while i did that, thanks for the help! Beerkex'd
82865G graphic card (not really a card) This is a big hurdle, there are no drivers for that so you can never have video acceleration. This means lots of things won't work properly. Get a real video card. My P4 Hackintosh also has the 865 chipset, but I'm using a Geforce 7600GT AGP and it works great with 10.5.x. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a used one somewhere in Vancouver. Can i get hyperthreading to work? How come when i connect my computer with an USB device, i can only take information from the usb but cannot save anything to the external hard drive? It said "the item "File-name" could not be moved because "External hard drive" cannot be modified. Beerkex'd
My P4 Hackintosh runs retail OS X with only a few modified kexts in S/L/E (sound, LAN, video) so I just ran the 10.5.8 combo update. Hyperthreading works fine - Activity Monitor shows two CPU windows. Do you have HT disabled in the BIOS? What happens if you enable it? You can't write to NTFS volumes in OS X, you must format the drive to FAT32 or install an NTFS file system driver that has write support. Try MacFuse or ParagonNTFS. Alternatively you can install Windows in a virtual PC inside OS X and mount your USB drive there. vancouvercanucks2010
Thanks for the video card suggestion, it makes my computer run a lot faster (especially on the mac side). Anyways, i still have some problem on the hackintosh 1.)Ram shown as 0MHZ instead of 320MHZ 2.)Display problem when i choose other resolution choice, i have to restart after this 3.)display problem after quitting starcraft, this time i can guess where the log off button is and log back in with no problem. 4.)utorrent still would not work for some reason 5.)Updating is not working at all, every method i tried end up having the restarting loop problem 6.)scrolling is a bit slow compare to windows, but that is a very minor problem that i can overlook it. Other than that, it works like an oversized first generation mac mini:) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210814-problems-on-installing-programs-internet-and-sound-card/#findComment-1418898 Share on other sites

vancouvercanucks2010
try firefox I appreciate your reply but i find out that the problem is actually just my video card. I add a 7600GS to my computer and now almost everything works from my hackintosh. Beerkex'd
DDR 3200 is 200 MHz, not 320. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM#Hig..._vs_low_density Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210814-problems-on-installing-programs-internet-and-sound-card/#findComment-1420075 Share on other sites
