spooksie
Hey everyone, I've managed to build my Hackintosh with no problems except the wifi card. Here is my spec: http://www.bloggy.co.uk/computers/new-comp...e-a-hackintosh/ I checked the compatible cards on here (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.0#Wireless) and purchased the D-Link DWA-552 Wireless N card. I've installed it correctly (I think) with this custom kext. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...20#entry1308056 The main problem I'm getting is that whenever I connect to a wireless network it either freezes or shows the grey overlap screen saying to power down. Here is how I installed it, please let me know if it is wrong. 1) Downloaded the custom kext from (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183069&pid=1308056&mode=threaded&start=20#entry1308056) unzipped it and right click and view contents. 2) Locate IO80211Family.kext>/Contents/PlugIns/ and right click and view contents of AirPortAtheros21.kext 3) Opened up the info.plist in textedit (AirPortAtheros21.kext>/Contents/Info.plist) 4) Find <string>pci168c,1c</string> and add <string>pci168c,23</string> below it. 5) I then copy AirPortAtheros21.kext and then right click and view contents on my System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext and then paste AirPortAtheros21.kext into /content/plugins 6) It adds successfully, I need to delete extension cache now. Kext Utility.app (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140647) and it clears the extension cache automatically. 7) Reboot and I can now see the wifi signal and select my network, add key, connects and then Freeze or crash. I've tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes and I'm running 10.6.1 Is what I'm doing wrong?
