cornpopz
Today I decided I would finally get around to running Boot Camp on my new MacBook Pro so I can run XP on it. So I go out to the local computer shop and pick up Windows XP Home SP2, an OEM pack, but still a full-version CD with SP2. Following the instructions for Boot Camp I get all the available software updates for my computer, and check for the firmwares (it seems that my MBP came with the latest firmwares). The process goes smoothly until my Mac reboots to start the XP installation and then..... Nothing. I get a blinking text cursor in the corner of the screen and hear my DVD drive spinning up and slowing down like it can't read the CD (yet it detects the XP Home CD without a problem under OS X). I shut it down, then restart it with the CD in the drive, hoping it'll work, but the CD just spins up and slows down about three times, then the MBP ejects it saying that it cannot find a bootable drive. What is going wrong here? A friend of mine who has the same configuration MBP (except that its an "early 2006" one I guess) got Boot Camp running fine, using XP Home SP2. cornpopz
Well...I solved my problem. I think my SuperDrive is messed up- I just burned a "backup" copy of the Home disc (I guess it technically is just a backup) and used that, and it reads fine. Installing Windows right now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20882-cant-boot-from-xp-cd/#findComment-138237 Share on other sites
