renodude18
hi all, not even sure if this is in the right section. But i wanted to ask if anyone knows what might be causing this problem, here is my setup Ideneb v1.4 10.5.6 installed works graphics, audio but not ethernet, i'm waiting on a USB ethernet connector. my video card is a 9400gt, i wasnt able to get it to work correctly with os x until i used the EFI app that came ideneb and selected the 8800 gts 512mb, it works fine. so everything but the internet has been working, even mounting DMG files except for when i went to install iwork the program would crash before i could install it, but then after 3 tries it actually installed and worked great. The problem I was trying to install my sims 3 game and i had it as an .iso on my windows machine and couldnt burn it to disc so i split them up the total file size is 5.53gb i put the .rar files in a fat32 partition that i use to transfer files from my windows part to the mac, fat32 wouldnt copy more then 4gb of the file so i just split the file up with winrar. so when i booted in to os x, i copyed them to the mac hd and then went to extract it with stuffit expander which i installed previously. as soon as it gets 3/4 the way done it stops and gives me a kernel panic and i have to restart, so i then tried it with the program that came with the os x i'm not sure what its called i think its betterzip or something but that gets to about 4gb and gives me the kernel panic, i'm using the voodoo 9.50 without the AMD patch. so i restarted tried again and now after a few seconds of expanding it does it again. Why would it give me a kernel panic from just expanding a file? all help and ideas are appreciated! renodude18
OK so no reply's so far. so i sorta fixed the problem, i reformatted the drive i use in order to exchange files between mac and windows to ntfs, mac can read it but not write, which is just fine, windows can do both. i was able to copy the file to the desktop and then mount the iso and start the installation. but by the time it got to 150 of 2** files a kernel panic emerged and i tried three times, no luck. but i just looked at the system requirements on the box of the game and it shows i need 10.5.7, i have 10.5.6 does that really matter, is there some update from apple that i need to use to get to play this game on my hackintosh. or should i just install parallels and install the game with windows in order to get it to work, does parallels even work on a hackintosh, please reply!
