Hi, first of all I'm new to this, but I can't seem to find the right info by searching...

I am using iAKOS v7, and attempting to install on my system with the following hardware:

cpu: intel core 2 duo

mobo: Asus P5PL2 (this)

chipset: Intel ICH7

network: realtek rtl8111 (gigabit ethernet)

sound: intel HD audio

graphics: nVidia GeForce 7600GT (pci express, 2xDVI slots)

From checking hardware compatibility I was pretty hopefull... as there are lots of good reports of asus p5 series working quite easily.

I wanted to triple boot with ubuntu and windows 7, so I partitioned my hard drive using disk utility as follows:

40GB FAT (will format later for windows 7)

25GB FAT (will format later for ubuntu)

2GB FAT (will format later for linux swap)

~400GB HFS+ (for leopard)

I then proceed to install from iATKOS gui, installing to the leopard partition, I used mainly the default options, except adding the driver for realtek rtl8111.

I wasn't sure what to options to use for the graphics, I've tried a couple of different options, which seemed the most obvious (I made use of the help text in iATKOS to decide)

The install appeared to go smoothly, but after restart and booting from hard drive I get the following:

boot0: testing

boot0: testing

boot0: testing

boot0: error

My question, is this a problem with my hardware and the options I'm choosing or is it just a bootloader problem?

I intended to install Ubuntu last, and let grub2 be the bootloader, which should detect everything... no?

Thanks in advance.

Have you selected chameleon 2.0 in personalization?

Are you sure that the partition for Leopard is Primary and not Logic?

Giorgio

I believe chameleon 2.0 was the default, but yes.

I'm pretty sure it's primary, I used disk utility and just chose a partitioning scheme with 4 partitions, disk utility didn't mention logical or primary (I'm aware of what they are, I assumed it would be primary by default, I'll double check)

I just did another attempt (erased the partition) and with absolutely everything default in iATKOS, same error happens.

Is this a common error? It seems like it would be but, I can't seem to find it by searching, doesn't give me many clues.

update: tried installing this time with just 1 partition, formatted HFS+ all default options in iATKOS v7 (including chameleon 2)

This time after install, I can boot into Chameleon, which seems to have detected leopard as well as 2 'windows NTFS' options which must be an old xp install on a 2nd hard drive, and the other goes to the windows 7 bootloader (I used to have windows 7 on this hard drive, but it's not there anymore)

So chameleon has clearly read the MBR or something and made a guess at what is there...

Choosing leopard instantly reboots the pc, giving no error.

If someone knows what this means at least, it would be helpful is it a kernel problem? graphics? mobo?

atm, I have no error message to work with.

Thanks!
