Inspiron 5100

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100. I am using OSX 10.4.1.

 

I have all hardware working except OPENGL.

 

So I have four questions

 

How can I get Opengl?

How can I test the Opengl?

How can I upgrade to a later version of OSX?

When I try to run Unified programs they will not run through the GUI. I have SSE2 with patch installed. Rosetta runs with Itunes. I get no message and if I try to run the program manually I get.

./Stellarium: Bad executable (or shared library)

./Firefox-bin: Bad executable (or shared library)

 

I tried running them from the /Applications/Stellarium.app/Contents/MacOS

and /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS

 

I am coming from a Windows and Linux background and I am just finding my way around on OSX.

 

I have Wired and Wireless working.

I have sound working.

I edited the vendor strings for the Ati Radeon Mobility M7 to match the card. I get no error but a black or white screen if I run glxinfo or glxgears.
