slibs
sup guys! I've managed to install snow leopard to my ASRock 2Core1333. I used the external usb method(from lifehacker tutorial) for installation and I booted my machine up with GA-EP45-DS3L boot cd. the osx is running just fine and I upgraded to 10.6.2 vanilla kernel, the problem is that I can't get the osx boot itself from HD, I have to always use the bootcd for booting up. I've tried installing different versions of chameleon and tried to look as many guides as I found to fix this problem but I'm really stuck now. When I try to boot from HD the chameleon works fine and starts booting up the osx, then I get kernel panic telling about "Should have 2 threads, but only found 3 for Die 0" I was thinking if I could steal some boot files from the boot cd, if it's possible, because it seems to work just fine. Is this possible and how should I do it? also I'm not afraid trying to "fix it the right way", but I really have no idea at the moment what's going wrong, should I do something about dstd or some efi stuff, and what is the right way to fix this? please help if you have any idea what's going on, thanks! slibs
and still not a single reply! damn. Luckily I kind of got it figured out by now. I got the osx to boot via removing dsdt.aml from /Extra that ended up with another error which was something about disks, so I changed some bios settings (sata stuff) and again the kernel panic changed, at this point I had to remove few kext files from /Extra/Extensions, SleepEnabler.kext didin't do any good and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext was another thing I removed, after this I finally got the osx booting! but the graphics didn't work like before, and I tried to fix it for a while and I ended up installing the whole system again clean because I had tried so many automatic installers which I had no Idea what they did do. I removed the dsdt file from the installation as well just to be safe, so I installed osx again, this time chameleon didn't fire up, but I booted the system with the GA-EP45-DS3L bootcd and then installed chameleon 2 RC4 manually via terminal, and copied the latest efi 10.5 bootfile to the root. That did it and I got osx to boot from the clean install. Graphics didn't work right but I fixed it with EFIStudio 1.1, just choosed Nvidia 8600gt from the menu and wrote it to com.apple.boot.plist, that fixed the graphics. Currently I'm upgrading to 10.6.2 and then fixing the audio.. I hope this helps if someone tries to do the same with same motherboard. delphinus87
I hope your upgrade to 10.6.2 goes smoothly, for me it was a {censored}. I couldn't do it again if you held a gun to my head. Fingers and toes crossed for 10.6.3. Keep us in the loop ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207245-asrock-2core1333-boot-problems/#findComment-1385591 Share on other sites
