bpopilek
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had any success in pulling this off yet? I have been trying for the last 2 days to get either 10.5 or 10.6 installed on this unit with no success. I have windows 7 on the primary partition, and a second primary partition setup for OSX. After I install any build, the laptop refuses to boot into the OS. Sometimes I can get the hard drive to try to boot right to the Darwin bootloader, other times I have to use the DVD to try to get it to boot from teh hard drive. Anyway I go though, it always hangs up on booting and I cannot figure it out. I have tried hooking it up to a monitor and ethernet, and even the 1-wire paperclip trick without success. I have tried these DVD install versions. Kayway 10.5 (Won't even boot fully into the install, it gets mostly there and then just reboots the laptop) These all boot off the install DVD and even install 100%, but the laptop hangs upon reboot. iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final iATKOS v7 - mac OSX 10.5.7 (leopard) x86 for Windows Computers Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks so much! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206658-install-snow-leopard-on-hp-tc4200-tablet/ Share on other sites
thedomsta
Hi bpopilek, Firstly, I'm a complete novice - I know just short of NOTHING about installing OSX (besides having done it 100+ times with different configs and different disks, not really knowing what I'm doing). I too have a TC4200 that I've been playing with and I'm in a similar situation to you. I changed the original Intel Wifi card for a Broadcom and I upgraded the RAM to 1.5GB and the Hard drive to 160GB. I have some instructions I used to get 10.5.6 on it but I too am playing with the HAZARD 10.6 (patched the ISO with the latest updates from leohazard.com). I get as far as loading the graphics after the install but all I get is a completely grey screen with no mouse :-( Damn it! I'm very close to giving in and buying a Mac (or iTablet if the rumours are to be believed) Anyway, here are my instructions for 10.5.6, let me know how you get on. Feel free to ask questions but I don't know how much help I'll be! Good luck!!! With Speedstep ON in the BIOS 1 wire trick on the external VGA port Ethernet/power/usb DVDRW plugged in iPC 10.5.6 Universal boot up from disk, press F8 and set "-v" boot flag Utilities > Disk Utility - Erase disk as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", name "Leopard", close. bradgillap
Dude! Thank you. This ethernet driver has been making me crazy for two days now. I had an ideneb but it was the lite version. The version you listed has the ethernet I need. eoinzy
I have Snow Leopard booting on the nc4200 (same machine without the touchscreen and swivel). I used the Hazard image. Its not a very stable install though. The clock doesnt show up the top right, the wifi doesnt work, the BCM5751M doesnt work. Also, i get a double kernel panic when i try to go into System preferences. Also, i cant install any pkg files and i cant unmount any drives. Lots of problems but i think they're due to incorrect kexts for the ICH6. I also cant get the vga working with Quartz. Will try this next. The sound is working fine though with AppleAC97Audio.kext and for boot i think i needed to replace the IOATAFamily.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206658-install-snow-leopard-on-hp-tc4200-tablet/#findComment-1594791 Share on other sites

I've tried the kext from the link you have in your post and I continue to get the "Still waiting on root device" error.
