petrus101
hey there, I have a VIA VT86C100A Network card, I installed into my pc and booted it up. OS X recognises it as "Etherernet controller on PCI1" or somthing like that, But the connection isnt operational and when i check the network config thing the card is listed about 5 times, I haven't done anything exept install the card, I'm thinking i might need to add a "device ID or Vendor ID" somewhere or somthing? Any help is appreciated, Thanks PS: Using OS X 10.4.6 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20628-network-card-recognised-but-not-functioning/ Share on other sites
petrus101
Ok after playing around with the terminal a little: ifconfig en27 up - Works Fine after entering ifconfig, I get this: en27: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::240:33ff:fea8:6d11%en27 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 169.254.108.151 netmask 0xffff0000 broadcast 169.254.255.255 ether 00:40:33:a8:6d:11 media: autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>) status: active supported media: autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> It seems to be activated ok, But "inet 169.254.108.151" Is not right it should be getting an ip from my router, Thats what it says in the GUI Netwok wizard, Found Card, But was unable to assign ip....With a yellow warrning light Its Close to working, I think i need to add a vendor code And Device ID into one of the kext's Anyone know hoe to do this? And which do i add it too?
