Can't Get Past Apple Boot Screen

Howdy, I just installed Mac OS X 10.4.6 (HOTiSO). I get it to install fine, and when I get to the OS selector, there is Windows XP Media Center Edition, and Mac OS X (10.4.6).

I choose mac and it goes back to the OS selector, so I have to select mac and hit F8 super fast to get into the darwin menu.

So I then startup mac, I get the grey screen, apple icon, spinny loading icon, and after about 1 minute, I get a disabled icon, (circle with line through it). I hope you know what I'm talking about, here is a picture:

But slightly above that apple icon, there's a tiny little disabled icon (http://sponsoredlistings.ask.com/images/cancel.gif)

I tried booting with -x (same)

I tried booting with -v (I get "waiting for root device" or something)

 

Any ideas?

"waiting for root device" Means OSX Is having problems finding the drive or partiton your trying to boot from, Make sure the partiton is primary and set to active, Also try making the OSX partition the first one on the disk

Then how do I get it to dual boot if it's the primary partition, will the boot loader still read boot.ini and come up with the OS selector?

I Just set the partition to primary, same errors and stuff..

Although it's the second partition in the list, I'm in KNOPPIX right now, how would I move it up to the first?
