Hello ! Im new here. The main reason why i registered is that i have serious problems with installing OS X on my laptop.

Im trying the OS X Leopard 10.5.6 version. The disc contains normaln instalation and Live version. Both are supplied with loads of drivers. (Im quite a noob in Macs, so sorry if I dont have correct language :P ). The machine that Im using is Asus V1S (Core2Duo, 2Gb RAM, GeForce 8600GT) with Win XP SP2 as primary OS.

Sooo... I burned the disc, set up everything, and the installer just doesnt works. The Live and the installer just doesnt load. Everytime my computer restarts. I even tried to run the installer through a VirtualBox .... Same two scenarios: 1. Apple logo and nothing else ... 2. This text (Imageshack isnt working, so i rewrite it):

Allright,

I did a little research (on google) and Ive found out that the problem is with the last line "ACPI CA 20051117 [debug level=0 layer=0]" ...

Ive tried disabling ACPI in BIOS, but it doesnt support this option.

The second idea was to add "platform=x86pc" in the boot command line, nothing changed, the comp still restarts itself.

I even tried cpu=1 and screen resolution command, but with no efect.

Any other idea ?

  • 1 month later...

I installed mac osx on my Asus V1s early last year, I believe for the V1s there is a modded bios that you need to flash then osx will install, I can't find it now though - there is a rapidshare link floating about but it is dead, hopefully someone will be able to provide it.

When I installed OSX I was fairly impressed, it took fully advantage of the screens resoultion (1680 x 1050) and performed well however I never managed to get the Wifi or Lan working so eventually I un-installed it.

Please keep your thread updated letting us know how you get on.
