ryan Sheffer
It is possible you are using a codec incompatible with color. Convert to prores and try the same. Though Final Cut accepts many files, Color is less forgiving. Greetings All, First post. Please be gentle. I was drawn to your post and would like to understand better the ins and outs of running FCP on one of these systems. I am hoping to learn enough here to build a system from scratch that will run FCP well and I'm grateful for any thoughts and suggestions. I have an old Dual G5 2.5 that was working perfectly well running 10.5.2 until Jan 09 when I installed a firmware update from Apple. Despite a successful install, from the next re-boot no tone, no video sync etc. All done. Need to work on several involved video projects and want back into OS as Windows machines don't meet my needs. Budget is an issue. Thanks again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203659-anyone-running-final-cut-studio-3/#findComment-1385563 Share on other sites

Thanks again some ppl i believe have been installing snow leopard without patching it and im sure its equivalent to a real mac but dont quote me on it. it has to be done on intel cpus and certain motherboards with intel chipsets. i suggest making a post in the forum in the proper section for it and asking some ppl who have done this. i havent really used mine enough to give you a proper answer on how good it runs and how stable it is. hope that helps, oh and welcome to insanely mac this was my first post too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203659-anyone-running-final-cut-studio-3/#findComment-1386339 Share on other sites

It is valuable and gives me a place to begin particularly about the intel cpu's and chipsets. I found a i5 MB with intel chipset for a reasonable price so think I will begin looking at starting things there. You're right too about stability. That really is the thing.
