I rly want to triple boot, but im not quite sure where to start. I want to use Chameleon 2 RC4. I have Windows 7 installed, and want to install OS X, and Ubuntu 9.10. I have a dell XPS 710, and have tried to install 10.5.6. I got it installing, but there is no audio or network connection, i also had to install the CPU=1 kext which id rather not do. After i installed that i installed Ubuntu, BUT the stupid Grub bootloader overwrote the Chameleon bootloader (non GUI). How can i install all 3 OS's without needed to reformat my Windows partition and have Chameleon 2 RCv4 working. id rly appreciate the help. thx in advance.

dude, first of all you need 3 partition for your MAC, window7, and ubuntu

if you plan to install from retail DVD you need GPT Hard drive

if you have a distro(ie ideneb) you can you MBR hard drive without formating it I think.

install each of them into each partition accordingly to the formatted partition

install ubuntu last cause it has the Grub bootloader that boot all other OSs.

But if you want to use Chameleon then you have to set Ubuntu's boot loader to go into its own partition and then install Chameleon at the end..

good luck

I struggled for the last 2 days doing this

finally got it working now

thanks man. umm i already have 3 partitions. about the ubuntu grub loader. umm which directory do i install it in? thats the part that always screws me up. One last question what exactly do i do with the master boot record? i know it has to do with identifying the 3 partitions, but what else? thx and sry for bothering u guys.

Hey man, its me again.

I still havent found a way to fix the Window 7 partition into MBR after installing ubuntu yet..

SO what I do is at the begining of the triple installation I use the leopard's disk Utility to format the whole Hard Drive and make it purely MBR instead of GPT-MBR hybird thingy like other people suggest.

This reduce the perfomance of OSX a little bit but if you can deal with it its the way to go.

About the Grub loader. when you go to the last step installing Ubuntu(step 8)

Click Advance and direct the loader to be installed in the same partition that Ubuntu is being installed into.

Good luck mate

hope I helped

Hey dude thank you so much. It worked perfectly. I have all three OS's installed, and working with Chameleon 2 RC4. The only issue i am having is with my Mac. i am on 10.5.6, and my audio doesnt seem to be working, my network isnt detected, and i cant shutdown or restart without having a kernal panic. My hardware is above, what kexts should i install to fix this?
