Greetings everyone,

I recently purchased a Lenovo S12 (29595FU, 2GB DDR2, 250GB HDD, 256MB Ion) and I am trying to make it work with 10.6.2.

I started with a "vanilla" HP Mini 311 install following steps 1-12 in the HP Mini 311 Darwin Thread. This gets 10.6.2 running with no sound and no wifi. On my first grope in the dark attempt at getting this thing to work, I tried the S10 Snow Leopard enabler 1.1.11 taken from this thread at the Lenovo IdeaPad forum. While it was mostly an epic failure since the graphics are configured for the intel GMA 950, the sound at least worked, so I assume I can get this working eventually. My priority right now is fixing the wifi.

The S12 has BCM4312 - from reading through the forums, this should not be that hard to get running, but the bcm43xx_enabler.sh did not seem to do anything, though I did not see any errors in the terminal when I ran it. My hypothesis is that something from the Mini 311 package (obviously not intended for this computer) is interfering with my attempts to enable the wireless card.

I would really appreciate any insights. Once I get this working, I will put together a guide on this site to installing 10.6.2 on the S12 Ion based on the HPM311 package.

Many Thanks!

Big Beluga

Update - good news and bad news:

Good - sound works with the HDAEnabler.kext

Bad - the wifi card is actually the 4315. I have no idea how to get it working, and have tried every how-to guide I could find on this forum

Any insights into getting this card working? Others have done it apparently, but there are no OS-X drivers, so it always takes some trickeration. Could really use some insights here, especially if I need to take platform specific actions.
