retack
so here's the situation. a user wishes to move an existing installation (running on a 945gc board, voodoo kernel) to a new motherboard (g41 chipset). i.e. just plug the existing hard drive into the new machine. i have a feeling this won't boot up. so, the user was going to boot up with an ideneb boot dvd and install some new drivers/dsdt/etc. so the existing installation has a better chance. is there any hope of this working? what might we run into? after weeks of trying to convince them, they outright refuse to do a reinstall (too many programs installed/customized). they want their system exactly as it is on the new machine.
