Solarbird
I am not sure what trigger this, but while using the computer, like surfing internet, I got this panic panic(cpu 2 caller 0x4b2442): "sbflush; sb 0xab2e8bc so 0xab2e8bc cc 0 mbcnt 8704 mb 0x7de3e100 mbtail 0x7dbc4800 " "lastrecord 07de3e100\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1486.2.11/bsd/kern/uipc_socket2.c:1233 Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace (CPU 2), Frame ; Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x8289bdb8 : 0x21b2bd (0x5cf868 0x8289bdec 0x223719 0x0) then there are more of these seemingly random codes to me.. i can type it out if it is needed to fix my problem BSN process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task Mac OS version: 10C540 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 10.2.0: Tue Nov 3 10:37:10 PST 2009; root:xnu-1486.2.11~1/RELEASE_I386 System model name: MacPro4,1 System uptime in nanoseconds: 83163579932857 I happened before when I play music with itunes and I thought itunes was causing the problem.. but now just using the computer causes this panic. I am using 10.6.2 booting with USB thumb drive, using Chameleon 2 RC3 + PC EFI 10.5 on Gigabyte x58 UD5 motherboard the OS works fine, just that this panic comes out about once a day. Any idea what causes it or how to fix it? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202240-got-panic-while-using-the-computer-cpu-2-caller/ Share on other sites
ameris_cyning
Why are you not booting into a 64bit kernel? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202240-got-panic-while-using-the-computer-cpu-2-caller/#findComment-1358755 Share on other sites
Solarbird
Why are you not booting into a 64bit kernel? I read about booting in 32bit give more compatibility with a little performance sacrifices... so I did. and most programs can run in 64 bit even though booting in 32bit mode. ameris_cyning
Boot into 64bit mode for 24 hours and see if you still get the KP. Solarbird
Check the console logs, may give you some idea. How do I do that? awulf
I get the same Kernel Panic quite often on my Gigabyte EX58 DS4, have you found a solution? Beerkex'd
(someone named pete said to "check the console logs" but has deleted his post) How do I do that? Run console. Click the little magnifying glass in the upper right corner and type console.app. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202240-got-panic-while-using-the-computer-cpu-2-caller/#findComment-1474338 Share on other sites
awulf
Boot into 64bit mode for 24 hours and see if you still get the KP. This worked for me, computer is now 100% stable, Transmission used to KP the computer all the time, as well as some other random KPs. Also my computer sleeps now. A friend who has an EX58 UD5 board had the same problems and this solved it too. I originally didn't boot into 64bit mode because at the time of installation there was no 64bit ethernet and sound kexts.
