So, using this guide: LINK

I have a working retail install and updated to 10.6.2. However, I can not reboot or shut down as it simply hangs at this:

SerialATAPI device reconfiguration did not complete successfully. (failedCommandInfo = 0x1)

That error repeats a few times until the system gives up and says ending as drive not responding.

That error and the rebooting may be related, or they may be separate problems. It's hard to tell based on what I've searched for.

I've tried all the available kexts for restart/shutdown issues and none work.

I'm currently using these kexts:

AppleAHCIPort

fakesmc

NullCPUPowerManagement

NVEnabler

PlatformUUID

SleepEnabler

System:

Dell XPS 420

ICH8-R

Raid Mode on (for AHCI support. No raid array)

4GB Ram

8800GT

2 320gb Hard drives. First has Leopard in 1st partition, 2nd partition has SL. 2nd Harddrive is blank but formatted as OSX guid.

Booting with Chameleon RC3 (from a thumbdrive for now until all is working correctly.)

Would appreciate any insight as I'm banging my head against the wall over this one.

Thanks ;)

EDIT: Well, I discovered it was 2nd disk. If I shut that port off in the bios, no problems at all. I tried various kexts related to AHCI with no luck.

So, If someone does happen to have an idea I would appreciate it. I would be happy if I could get that disk to stop mounting etc during OSX boot. I plan to use that for Windows, so OSX doesn't really need to see it.

Thanks again.

EDIT 2: I'm going to mark this solved. After more research, it appears it's a problem with AHCI and the ICH9r chipset (and perhaps the other ICHx)and SL. There was mention of waiting for a Kext update from Dune, I believe.

Plus, If I change my power management in the bios from S3 to S1, things work as well. Not great, and it still reboots and shuts down slowly, but at least I can have the drive going if need be.
