pts211
Hello InsanelyMac community! I have been working for a little over a week to get iPC PPF5 10.5.6 to install on a custom rig that I have. Through this process I have had many difficulties but thanks to these forums made it quite far! (To install I have been using MadFalcons guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=171502) My System specs are: Asus Striker Extreme (680i chipset) Intel QX6850 @ 3.00 8gb Corsair XMS-2 800mhz x2 Nvidia 8800 Ultra (One is XFX, one EVGA) Auzentech Prelude x2 150gig WD Raptors (Raid 0) x2 500gig WD Caviars Pioneer BD-RW (BDR-202) Generic DVD-RW Drive 1000w ULTRA Power Supply Windows 7 (On Raptor array) iPC 10.5.6 OSX (60gig partition on WD Caviar) Currently my biggest issue is my graphics setup. I would like to be dual booting Win7 and OSX but I can't seem to get any graphics driver to install with both cards in. I have tried taking the secondary card out of the system and it seemed ok with that (I didn't look to far into my system with one card). I don't need to have the ability to use both cards in OSX I just want to be able to boot utilizing one while both are present. Is there a way to modify one of the drivers to only check/use one PCI-E slot or something similar? A smaller issue that I have had is booting. I will often get an "IODevice not ready..."€Error (that I can't remember exactly as I am not at my mac machine) at boot followed by the "still waiting for root device"€when I have all of the hard drives enabled. I figured out that if I disable all of the hard drives that I am not using for OSX in the bios before booting then the error occurs less often if ever. Is this a common issue, and is there a way around it so I don't have to go through so many bios changes to boot OSX? My last bit I am waiting to really work on until I at least have the video issue sorted out. I can only boot using "cpus=2" anything more and I get a kernel panic. MadFalcon mentions a modified kernel in his guide that I have yet to look for but if someone knows exactly what I will need that would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help! pts211 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/201987-booting-difficulties/ Share on other sites
