bikalpa paudel
Hey guys. I have an old PC that is getting lesser and lesser use everyday. So I thought I could repurpose it by installing Mac OS X on it. I know the performance wont be great but heck this is not my primary machine. System Specifications Processor: Intel Celeron D 2.26 GHz 256k L2 SSE3 RAM: 512 MB + 256 MB DDR1 333 MHz Board: ECS P4M800-M [VIA VT8237 Southbridge] Graphics: nVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 MB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80 GB PATA IDE ODD: Moser Baer DVD-RW DL -- SATA Monitor: AOC F22 @ 1920x1080 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have managed to get hold of iDeneb 1.5 10.5.7 in the form of a 4.3 GB disc image (iso). The file passed MD5 checksum test. I have a very very pathetic Internet connection. I wont be able to get hold of any other Distro. I wont be able to download such large files. I have to get this to work! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I wrote the file on a Rewriteable DVD+RW. And I tried booting it. On the normal trying, I got this. I restarted and this time I pressed F8 and went to advanced. There I sought help and then came to know about the verbose mode, safe mode and single user mode. I tried boot: -v -x -F all, but I was stuck on this error. Still waiting for root device.. Still waiting for root device.. It has something to do with my PATA controller I guess. Here is the screenshot. And the following is the full screen-shot where things have halted, just before "Sill Waiting for Root device" appeared : I hope I have detailed enough for you guys to come up with a hint? I have been busting my butt over it trying to find a solution. And that I cannot download another distro makes things worse. Please help.
