GIGABYTE P55A-UD4P onboard raid

I have a GIGABYTE P55A-UD4P motherboard with onboard raid of course. I have 10.6.2 working sans audio at the moment. I want to setup a 4 disk raid 5 using the onboard raid, but the onboard is clearly not recognized by OS X 10.6.2. Is there anyway to make this work? I have programming skills, but is it even possible to write a driver for this raid controller so it can work in OS X? I see a lot of these boards getting sold and used in hackintoshes and it would be nice if we could get all of the features to work, especially RAID (well, I'm not sure how good the onboard raid controller is, but it is included and that means I don't have to spend any extra money)

 

Or would it be better to simply purchase a SATA Raid card? Any card that works with OS X on a Mac should work on a hackintosh as well, correct?

 

I'm not totally against buying a card since my data is important to me, but it might also be a fun/project to write a driver for the controller.

Ive got a EX58-UD5 board, and would love a 4 drive stripe.

Final Cut would really like it too, I think.

 

There seems to be NOTHING here about it, I've been searching, and your unanswered post is all I find that is even remotley releavant. I think the search engine needs oil or something.
