Hi to all, I have HP NX7400(with 2Gb RAM) laptop with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (updated from 10.6) I just saved IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.6 before update, and install it on 10.6.3 and the connection of Broadcom 440 not stable when start Safari or mail, but in Remote Desktop Connection it stable. Here is IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.6 may be it can help anyone. P.S.: I have another problem with HOT CPU! Kakashi777
in the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on my Acer Aspire5610Z, I got a message like "IONetworkingFamily.kext is improperly installed and can't be used..." and I carried on with 2nd step to install the Broadcom440x. After the reboot, my ethernet card doesn't work and I can't find it in the Preferences > Network at all. Did my steps screw up? Can anybody point it out? Very much appreciated! SteveRings
Successful installation of BCM440X kext in 10.6.3 *Download IONetworkingFamily kext from 10.6 (not later version) and install it using Kext Utility *Download AppleBCM440XEthernet kext from the first post and install it (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=63260) *Restart the system and enjoy your stable connection! I installed on a Dell 9400/E1705; I am totally up-to-date at 10.6.4 native (using 10.6.3 for IONetworkingFamily kext) and the afore-mentioned BCM440X kext. I just didn't bother to update to the 10.6.4 kext as the 10.6.3 kext worked well; I would bet 10.6.4 will work, too. I found the 10.6.0 kext did not do well at all. All of these are in the EXTRA directory - it will not work in the standard directory without modifying those things we really shouldn't touch. I installed starting with the 10.6.0 retail DVD using the DL620SLV1.iso which gave me sound from the Sigmatel 9200 and native video on the GMA945; as I already had the combo update for 10.6.3 I didn't fool with the network until after it had been installed. I did an automatic update after 10.6.3 (unchecked 10.6.4) then did 10.6.4 and then did the post 10.6.4 security updates. DON'T FORGET arch=i386 - no 64-bit support here. This was all quite straight forward due to starting with the DL620SLV1 boot disk as it installed the VOODOO kexts. I would really like to thank both VOODOO and friends for their hard work and leppy700m for his installer which made all of this finally possible for me. gurde
I had this running fine on 10.6.4 x64, and since I updated when I try to enable the en1(broadcom 440x) the beachball comes into play and the OS freezes. Any ideas how to fix this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/201034-broadcom-bcm440x-for-snow/page/2/#findComment-1584067 Share on other sites
