Hello everyone, I've been trying to get a hackintosh working for a long time now and finally bought an external hdd to put the OS on. Here are my specs first of all.

OS: 10.5.6 wanting to upgrade to 10.6

Motherboard: Gigabyte UD3P-P45 w/ 2GB of RAM\

Graphics Card: ATI x1900

Here are my problems.

1) I am able to install 10.5.6 just fine but when I burn 10.6, in Windows and Apple, grub will NOT load the CD. I am stuck on HFS+ mach_kernal 422f700. This is very frustrating as I have gone through 3 DL DVD's. I have checked the CD and verified it's data. All Ok. I actually tried installing 10.6 BEFORE 10.5.6 and this didn't work either (not that I thought it would make a difference what's on the HDD).

Update: I tried creating two partitions on my external HDD. A install partition and a OSX partition. I followed this guide for the USB part. http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build...start-to-finish I was not able to boot from the external HDD just like many of the individuals who followed that guide. I'm starting to run our of ideas.

Maybe there is a better way to boot into the installer that I'm just not thinking of? (I do not have a 8GB+ thumbdrive..they break on me so fast that I gave up on buying them)

2) It seems that there is a simple fix that I just cannot google correctly..which makes me feel stupid as hell. My x1900 will only show 1024x768 and changing the boot.plist doesnt fix anything. I'm sorry to ask such a noobish question.

3) I have no audio devices and none of the kext's seem to work. I've tried the A8889.fix.kext and it actually broke my install! Pfft, crazy kext's. I fixed the install though. I tried installing it with the kext utility btw.

Those are the three problems I'm having and any help would be more than welcome. I'm sure my second question just needs a linking to.

Sorry for a double post but I can't seem to edit my first post O_o.

Audio is fixed and working! I'm not able to use Digital Out, but it's not like my ears can perceive the difference =P.

As for the video, I have got the bootlist to finally start working! Problem is, I told it 1440x900x32 and it gave me 1152x864 (wtf kind of number is that?). Any ideas?
