Guys,

I've got a dell d630 with snow leopard 10.6.0 universal install with nearly everything working bar the audio.

I've tried everything I could lay my hands on but no real luck.

Although all the guides mention removing ALCinject / HDAEnabler, the only way I could get the sound working at all and that too for a while was by using legacySTAC9205.kext, HDAEnabler.kext and HDEFEnabler.kext together.

By using all these together, the sound worked but after a restart everything back to square one.

Moreover, after installing HDAEnabler, the sound worked at first but upon restart, it took down the bluetooth and usb's as well.

This seems to be happening intermittently. Sometimes, the audio works with everything else at random but most of the time it doesn't.

Where am I going wrong?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just for people who're looking for a solution to the same problem.

I resorted to VoodooHDA.kext (http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/) which works pretty well but has some small issues. Every restart resets the volume levels.

For getting the VoodooHDA.kext working, I removed all other sound kexts e.g. HDAEnabler.kext, HDEFEnabler.kext, AppleHDA.kext and legacySTAC9205.kext.

I'm trying to find some time to help the voodoo team in fixing this if I can get my head around it that is!

Meanwhile, if someone figures out a better way, please post it.

Cheers!
