letsgetsilly
After following the lifehacker instructions on how to extract the Snow Leopard image onto the USB disk, I ran the custom install script that was also provided (instead of doing the manual terminal work). Then, I deleted the "Extras" folder at the root of the USB disk and replaced it with the Extras folder that exists in this dmg. When I boot off of the USB stick I am unable to see my hard drive in the "Select disk to install os x" screen in the installation wizard. Chameleon bootloader sees both my USB stick and the hard drive when I boot up, but the installer fails to completely. I've reformatted my destination drive several times to a GUID partition, Mac OSX extended (journaled case-sensitive) without any luck of it showing up in the screen. My instincts tell me that I'm missing some kind of driver for the SATA controller, but I don't know how to go about trouble shooting that. All of the recommendations regarding this issue found elsewhere involve reformatting the hard drive. Any suggestions? TIA. letsgetsilly
Have you selected the ACHI setting in your bios? Yes. EDIT: Nope! That was it!! I had one of the ACH settings but not both. Thank you! Now when I go into the installation, I receive the following error screen: "Install Failed. Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer. The installer could not copy the necesary support files" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198825-help-please-cannot-select-hard-drive-during-osx-install/#findComment-1338183 Share on other sites

letsgetsilly
I odn't understand what you mean by "unchecking" the printer drivers. Does that mean I need to remove them manually from the 'extras' folder? Thanks. letsgetsilly
I was able to get the system to boot using DD's script, but not using the Lifehacker USB image method. The system boots up after entering Chameleon and I have loads of text that appears to be the line-by-line loading of the OS. (I'm new to MacOSX). When the computer boots up everything appears to be working at first glance. However I have experienced a few issues with my video. When the computer goes into standby it will not awake. Also, if I try to change the video resolution on the box the monitor just "blues out". I suspect that because the DD script includes a KEXT for an ATI card that I do not have the appropriate KEXT for my GTS 250 card, but I'm not sure how to verify this. I'm also not sure where to go to get the appropriate KEXT if I wanted to. Any guidance or suggestions along these lines would be appreciated. Thanks!
