i went out and bought a new P5QPL-AM Motherboard by asus built on the intel G41/ICH7 chipset. Everything is detected properly (even the internal sata drives!! those weren't even detected in the old factory motherboard).

Question being - seeing that everythings detected properly, why is the install freezing/stopping at about 15% while copying files and not going anywhere? is this a setting ishould change in the bios that would change this? ive just upgraded the bios to the latest version prior to posting this post so i havent even tried to see if that would help anything. Is there any patched bioses that i should get that may benefit me and this board to install osx properly? Please help, It's gotta be something simple!

BTW is the snow leopard retail upgrade cd a bootable cd? Please advise!

ANY HELP AT ALL IS APPRECIATED!!!

System specs: Modified Gateway DX4720-01h

Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard (new as of today)

4GB RAM, 512MB DDR2 PCIE ATi radeon HD3650, 2 internal sata hard drives (1TB and 750GB, soon to add another 500GB sata), sata dvd burner, pata dvd burner, msi tv@anywhere tv tuner, aftermarket firewire card with 4 ports based on via chipset.

note -- processor is a intel quad core q8200 2.33 ghz processor

anyone have any suggestions, im desperate!

I was able to get this exact board to boot IPC 10.5.6 using CPUS=1 at the boot loader.

But I can't enable all 4 cores after installation.

if I install the ACPI fix and boot from the HD using CPUS=1 everything works, but I have a quad core, and I want to use all 4 cores.

I did have success using a Boot 123 disc and retail SL. Install some kexts, and all cores work. Do you need 10.5? or will Sl work for you?

Hey Vetsen, No I don't entirely need 10.5, my plan was to just get 10.5 working as long as i can get it installed then use the snow leopard upgrade dvd i bought to upgrade it to SL. *had problems burning the snow leopard downloads so i bought it) do you know if the snow leopard upgrade dvd is bootable or not?

can you also give me a guide on how you installed it (what you did, what kexts/patches you had to apply etc) for install using ipc 10.5.6 Thanks

I had a feeling that it had something to do with your video card. I sent you the Kexts. Let me know how it goes.

Hey guys,

I recently got the ASUS N61Vn-A2 Laptop and I've been trying to install OS X on it all week.

I've tried Leo4All, iDeneb, iPC, and iAtkos v7. iAtkos seems to be the only one that can at least boot to where I can see the install screen (w/ -v cpus=1 busratio=20).

But I seem to have the same problem, where the installation hangs or freezes right around the 15% level.

Have you found a solution?
