I have (obviously) a toshiba qosmio g35-av600 laptop. specs are:

Core Duo T2400

Intel Mobile 945PM Expess Chipset (cpu-z reports i945PM) Revision 3

Nvidia Go 7300

Toshiba Mainboard

17" WXGA

SigmaTel Hi-Def Audio

Intel PROSet Wireless

Dual SATA 80GB Hard Drives on a TOSHIBA Raid Controller (Device Manager lists a A347SCSI SCSI Controller as well, so i dont know what the deal is there)

DVDRW Drive on IDE 0 Master.

*Using the dd method with tiger-x86 to either a partition on master disk or slave disk yields a "still waiting for root"

*booting from any dvd with any parameters yeilds a "Local APIC error"

anyone have any ideas? I have tried toggling all settings in bios, but there arent very many settings to toggle. please mention anything if something sticks out!

FYI, i am posting this from 10.4.5!!!!! Few problems that are quite typical:

*Touchpad does not work: synaptics touchpad?

*Wireless does not work: intel proset wireless, not sure which model

*audio does not work: sigmatel audio on i945PM chipset

*need to learn about setting graphics modes!

Well never mind. i restarted to try to use boot flags to change the graphics mode, and while i was at it, went in to change something in bios, and POOF. local apic error comes back. put bios back the way it was, same thing. no boot.

before i installed 10.4.5, i was using bios version 1.4. i had JUST flashed it back to 1.3 to try the install and it worked. now it doesnt. so i reflashed to 1.4, and it still doesnt work, so im going to reflash to 1.3 and give it one more shot using the exact method i did earlier. wish me luck. im probably just not holding my mouth right...
