Vertigo2720
Hello world of Hackintosh experts! I have quite the conundrum and have been obsessing over this for...at least a week now. Here's the situation... I want to setup an OSX server. The disk I acquired to do this was Hazzard Server 10.5.6, however I also have a retail Leopard 10.5.4 disk and a Snow Leopard Server 10.6 retail disk. My hardware is as follows: Processor: Pentium D 3.2GHZ 64bit/SSE2/SSE3/800mhz FSB (Based on the Pentium 4 architecture, not Core) Motherboards: Foxconn G33M-S Board, ICH10R, Realtek Audio, Realtek Gigabit Lan, Firewire, Intel GMA x3100 onboard graphics. Asus P5Q-SE/R P45 Board, ICH10, HD Audio, Realtek Gigabit Lan, NO FIREWIRE Memory: 4gb (2x2gb) DDR2-6400 800mhz Graphics Cards: Intel GMA x3100 on the Foxconn board, ATI Radeon x1600 (c2 version), nVidia Geforce 9800 GT Hard Drives: A wide array of various sized IDE and SATA drives DVD Drives: Internal IDE Benq DVD burner, External USB DVD burner. AND: An old PowerMac G4 running 10.4.11 that I can use to edit files from this install if needed. I CAN hook a SATA drive to it if necessary. I'll use any combination of hardware above, whatever you guys think is best. Here's what I know so far: * Both boards generate the "bla bla bla 4096 IO buffer headers" error, which I know to fix by replacing the APIC and HPET .kexts with ones from Tiger and removing the Firewire .kexts. * The Foxconn board will not boot OSX with legacy USB support enabled; it comes up with an error in yellow regarding a lack of driver of "PCgenUSB" or something like that. The ASUS board returns the same error but ignores it and continues booting. * Both boards seem to require APIC v2 to begin booting, but SOMETIMES work with v1. Never v3. * Both boards require cpus=1 to begin booting, otherwise they reboot right after loading the kexts. What I've tried: * I've tried -x and -f, they don't effect anything. * I have my SATA configured as AHCI * I've tried combinations of Enabling/Disabling CPU features like Virtualization, Thermal Monitor capabilities, Disable-Bit functionality, ect. * I've tried Enabling/Disabling onboard devices like IDE, SATA, HD Audio, and LAN * Every time i've edited files using my old Mac, I make sure to repair permissions. I've also tried deleting kext caches, which I've read should help. * I flashed the BIOS of the Asus board to the newest version modified of OSX, found on this forum. Current Position: I'm currently stuck on both boards and hardware combinations after repairing the IO buffer headers error. Here's the last line that appears before it stops: "localhost servermgrd[59]: servermgr_dhcp:bootp config:Error:Failed to create default subnet records". I dont really understand what this means, or how it would inhibit booting. Several other things appear doing the boot process that seem like they may be more significant, however, including "waitForService(resourceMatching9AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out" and "No matching I0Kit service class for I0 WatchDogTimer". Also, last but not least, "USBF: 18.813 AppleUSBEHCI[Ox4600800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out! [Addr: 0,EP: 0]". All of these appear just before it stops doing anything at the first listed error, and most of them appear more than once. A few days after I first started this whole escapade I was able to successfully boot and use 10.5.6 server installed off the Hazzard disc, but I somehow corrupted the install (to my total dismay and frustration) after attempting to install drivers for the Radeon x1600. I've tried to recreate the exact circumstances under which it worked several times but i don't remember the exact details, since at the time it was just another of what seems like 100 installs. I do remember this: * It was off the Hazzard 10.5.6 Server disc * I was using the Foxconn board * Using the onboard graphics and the internal IDE DVD drive to install * It was installed on an IDE hard drive * I replaced the kexts with the APIC Tiger kexts after getting the "4096 IO buffers" error but don't remember fixing the permissions. * It booted with cpus=1 -v -f flags * All onboard devices were enabled, sata was set to enhanced (before i knew about the AHCI thing). * Legacy USB was disabled. * I was using the StageXNU kernel provided on the disc, and had all the logical options selected for my setup. Anyways, that's about it. I'm not too sure I have any more information to provide, but if I can think of any I'll be sure to add it. Any help you guys can provide would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'd really like to just get this working since I KNOW it's possible and because of that I've been torturing myself over this for far too long. Again, thanks for your help.
