Tossil
Hello all, first post. I have not really played with a mac in so many years. I think the last one I really used was a Apple 2GS in Jr High. I'm not new to PC's or Servers by any means and I wanted to come here to see if people might be able to help me with some of my problems. I'm using Mac OS x86 10.4.6 Patched + updates and extras (Intel, AMD) just for reference. I've been able to get this to install by formatting the hard drive with "Disk Utilities" "MAC OS Extended Journeled". I then pick the drive, and then I pick "customize" and under "JaS.Intel.and.AMD.Patches" I pick the three Intel related options and the wireless option. I also uncheck Additional Fonts and Language Translations because I don’t feel as if I need them. I then click install and its on its way. After the system finishes the install it reboots. The DVD is still in the drive and darwin loads and I just wait for it to cycle out. The system loads fine. I enter some info and then reboot but before rebooting I eject the disk. The system reboots and I get a HFS+ Partition Error. I reinsert the disk and reboot. Darwin loads and I again wait for it to cycle out and it loads correctly this time. Why do I need to have the install DVD in for the OS to load? I have a 21" LCD I normally run at 1600x1200. I'm assuming that this is because I do not have the proper drivers for my video card, in addition, there are no proper drivers for any video card as this is a x86 build and the video drivers for non-x86 are not compatible. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me, Tossil Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19576-1046-loading-problems-along-with-video-asus-p5wd2-e-premium-mobo/ Share on other sites
Roman78
Hello and welcome. is this the first time you installed the OS on this machine? Try reinstall. I'm thinking of buying the P5WD2, hope it is not a problem whit the mainboard :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19576-1046-loading-problems-along-with-video-asus-p5wd2-e-premium-mobo/#findComment-128269 Share on other sites
-TiLT-
Maybe you need to activate the MacOSX partition manually with either partitionmagic or something similar (extended fdisk) for your graphics-card visit macvidia. They have working drivers. Tossil
Why would the disk not be activated? Did I miss something in the install? My only option to use Partition Magic is to install it on the system and its a PC Program. Thanks for the info about MacVidia! Tossil
Ok, it looks by using two installs of x86 OSx I have the boot problem fixed. I don't know about sound as of yet as I have not hooked up any speakers yet. So far, I like it. I'm just wondering, how crippled is this system? I'm still working on the MacVidia to get 1280x1024, and I understand why correct drivers are not out, but I must say I would love to see this at 1600x1200. -TiLT-
It is not crippled. It is simply not designed to work on your hardware.
