Claire
Hello! I have a Mac OS X dvd, version 10.4.4, I don't know if it is Myzar's, all I know is that it has Maxxus' patch, because it showed up in installation package details. So I installed it on my second primary partition (sda2). Installation went fine, but after the reboot I was quite lost... I thought the install would overwrite grub, but it didn't, so I tried a title Mac OS X 10.4.4 rootnoverify (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader --force +1 Which gives me a "Stage 2:Read Error" plus hang, that is I can't even Ctrl-Alt-Del-Reboot. If i take out the --force, I get a "Stage 1.5 /n Unsupported executable format". When I booted off the dvd again, I would start a new installation I tried lilo, which told me "First sector of sda2 doesn't have a valid boot sector". I also tried with mapping sda2 to sda1, but that didn't help either. Then I went to boot the dvd again, just to check things under the installer disk utility, and there I got it, my installed osx booted out of nowhere. I created user account etc and it seemed to work nice. So the problem still is that I can't boot. Isn't osx supposed to install darwins bootloader? I have a darwin i386 8.0.1 cd around, may that help? WinXP is not possible. Please, I'm desperate now... help... PS: I just had a look at my mac partition from linux, and in /usr/standalone/i386/ is only one file called boot.efi, and not the usual boot0, chain0 etc files that (I guess, since the osx' boot loader stuff isn't documented anywhere...) are for bios bootloaders.
